Passive Feeders
Passive Feeders are the simplest kind with no moving parts. The static feeder relies on spreader plates or “rock boxes” to do the work of distributing the material flow. These types of feeders are perfect for applications where the material is very hard and dry, so that it will not clump or accumulate inside of the feeder.
J&H CD Feeders are durable static feeders designed to handle the rigorous environment of most dry material processing applications.
J&H CDF Feeders are robust static feeders designed with a shallower pan angle to process materials with lower angles of repose.
J&H Velocity Breakers are not usually used directly as a feeder, but are used in conjunction with feeders to help regulate the speed of the material entering into the feeder. This device slows down the material, allowing either static or vibrating feeders to work better. A J&H Velocity Breaker is shown installed onto the feed inlet of a J&H Vibrating Screen Feeder in the image at upper-right.
Vibrating Feeders
J&H Vibrating Feeders use J&H JHV 1800 Vibrator motors to create a high frequency, small amplitude vibration in the spreader pan or trough. This vibration produces a fluidized zone of product material at the contact with the feeder plate which significantly reduces friction and causes the material to “flow” down the spreader plate, even when at an angle less than the material’s angle of repose.
Vibrating Feeders come in two general types, Vibrating Body or Static Body. Selection is according to the application and plant layout geometry. In the vibrating body, the vibrator motors are attached to the body of the feeder which is either suspended or supported on flexible buffers. In these machines, the entire body is vibrated and the distribution pan is an integral part of the feeder body. In the static body, the housing of the feeder is stationary and does not vibrate or move. This allows it to be rigidly mounted onto the screen and to the feed chute or adjacent equipment. The vibrator pan is supported by flexible buffers. For this application, only the vibrator pan is being vibrated by the motors, which is generally more efficient.
Vibrating body feeders come in three styles according to plant geometry.
A VBC (or Vibrating Body Center) feeder has its inlet flange centered on the feeder and distributes out to the edges in both directions.
A conveying feeder is used for moving material horizontally with a minimum of vertical height requirement.
Trough feeders convey material and distribute the discharge for a J&H Screen.
Static body feeders come in three styles according to plant geometry.
The standard J&H Vibrating Screen Feeder sits directly on the feed inlet flange of a J&H Screen Machine. The feed inlet is offset to one side to consider feed chutes that are coming in at an angle.
The SBC (or Static Body Center) feeder has its inlet flange centered on the feeder and distributes out to the edges in both direction for when the feed chute is vertical and already aligned with the screens.
The SBS (or Static Body Side) feeder has a direct drive linear vibrating pan encased in a static body, which allows equal and uniform distribution to the whole width of the screening machine.
J&H Feeders significantly improve screening efficiency while simplifying material flow regulation and distribution.
