The J&H Stream Splitter is designed to equally divide the feed material into multiple process streams, handling from 50 to 800 tph and up of dry, loose material. The J&H Splitter is generally located right at the top of the plant, just below each elevator or feed conveyor discharge. The inlet flange of the splitter is designed to be the full width of the discharge flange to take advantage of the naturally consistent and even distribution of the material at these points.
Built with two, three, four, five or six discharge legs, the advantage of the J&H Splitter is to consistently and automatically divide the material flow into all of the required process streams at one point in the plant, rather than requiring a cascade of two- or three-way splitters to achieve the same result. This improves consistency, reduces maintenance, simplifies plant control, and minimizes plant height requirements. The J&H Splitter is different from the J&H Multiport Rotary valve in that the rotary valve will only provide material flow to one discharge at a time, and can be operated in such a way as to disproportionately split material into different processes using bin hoppers.
J&H Stream Splitters are designed for today’s demanding production requirements, robustly built of carbon steel or stainless steel, with optional AR400 liners in impact areas as required. They are then coated with a durable, industrial powder coat. Internal blades are made of stainless steel. All our splitters are built with full-width access doors to allow for easy cleanup or maintenance of internal components.
J&H stream splitters use actuators to maneuver the splitting blades to optimized positions for splitting the material flow. Control can be as simple as a local control box or can be integrated into a DCS system control with live feedback. Stream Splitters – like the J&H diverters – are available in two families: modulating (4-20 mA analog) and non-modulating (close/split/close) with three fixed positions. Actuator power can be electrical or pneumatic in both fixed position and modulating versions. J&H modulating Stream Splitters are available with electromechanical actuator or a modulating pneumatic actuator which position according to 4 to 20 mA command signals and feedback signals. J&H fixed-position Stream Splitters are available with electromechanical or back-to-back pneumatic cylinder actuators which use digital signals to position the blades. Optional limit switches are available for position confirmation for the pneumatically operated valves. The electromechanical actuators generally allow for position confirmation through internal limits. An important feature of the J&H Stream Splitter is that its ability to shut off flow to a single process line while instantly equalizing flow to the remaining process lines is built into the design of the splitter. This innovative design allows the end user to perform maintenance on any one of the process lines without slowing or stopping production of the entire plant.
J&H Stream Splitters can be provided with local Manual Control Boxes according to the requirements of the valve, type of actuation, and customer specifications. Local control boxes for pneumatically actuated valves direct the valve to close off an indicated discharge leg of the valve so that a downstream process line can be maintained without having to shut down the plant. Valves with modulating electro-pneumatic or electromechanical actuation have command and feedback indication. It is possible to provide indication for a fault or for full travel indication, providing a signal on the manual control box and in the control room. If required, a switch on the manual control box toggles between local control of the valve and remote control from the control room.
